Wine

Wine has always accompanied the Cretans in their joys and sorrows but also in their daily eating habits. For that reason, we have cooperated with a range of selected vineyards of the mountainous areas of Crete and we have managed to provide our visitors with representative varieties of red, white and semi-red wines. More specifically, our varieties include:

Dry Wine

Red wine (Enotiko)

Category: table wine
Varieties: Kotsifali – Madilaria – Romeiko
Type: dry red
Characteristics: deep red colour, quite bright, with dark reflections. Scent of ripe fruit, spices and wood barrel
Harmony of flavours: it goes well with cooked pork meats, meat, red sauces. It is served at 18 ºC.
Bottles of 0,75 lit or 0,375 lit

White wine (Enotiko)

Category: table wine
Varieties: Vilana – Savatiano Romeiko
Type: dry white
Characteristics: bright, yellow colour. Scent of fruit or flowers. Delicate flavour, which makes it a pleasant drink.
Harmony of flavours:it goes well with white meat, sea food, white cheese. It is best served at 10 ºC.

Semi-Sweet Wine

(red, white)

Braoudakis semi-red wine

Category: table wine
Varieties: Madilari, Kotsifali
Type: dry semi-red
Characteristics:a product of a specific vinification technique. It is quite fruity, with a bright, transparent colour
Harmony of flavours:it goes well with a variety of dishes and is served at between 12 – 14 ºC.

Braoudakis semi-sweet white wine

Category: table wine
Varieties: Vilana, Romeiko – Moschato
Type: semi-sweet white
Characteristics: fruity white wine, with a pleasant flavour and a slightly sweet after-taste
Harmony of flavours: an ideal aperitif, it goes well with various starters. It is served at 9 – 10 ºC.
Bottles of 0,75 lit or 0,375 lit

Old Red Wine

This wine of 12 to 16 years is stored in oaken barrels for a unique scent and flavour.

Braoudakis red wine

Category: table wine
Varieties: Agiorgitiko madilari, Kotsifali, Moschato
Characteristics: a particularly fruit flavoured wine, with a scent of oak barrel. It remains in the barrel for 18 months and originates in vineyards of the regions of Apokorona or Sfakia.
Harmony of flavours: it goes well with red meat or spicy cheese. It is served at 18 ºC.

Retsina

Based on the resin that is collected from pine trees, retsina is produced and then stored in old big barrels for the best combination in taste of grape and wood

Category: table wine
Varieties: Savatiano, Vilana
Type: dry white
Characteristics: classic vinification technique, with the addition of processed resin, in wood barrels
Harmony of flavours: it is consumed at 8 – 10 ºC, combined with seafood or white meat, salads or traditional snacks.

Our wine is of excellent quality and standards. White and semi-red wines are better preserved in 8 to 12˚C, while red wine is best preserved in 12 to 18˚C.
